How Bimatoprost works: Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue that increases the outflow of aqueous humor, thereby lowering elevated eye pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Bimatoprost include conjunctival hyperemia.
Expert Advice
- Bimatoprost helps lower high intraocular pressure and reduces the risk of vision loss.
- For optimal results, instill one drop once daily in the evening or at night in the affected eye(s).
- Bimatoprost may cause brown pigmentation of the iris, which could be permanent.
- Your eyelashes may become denser, and the skin of the eyelids may darken.
- These changes are expected to resolve after discontinuing Bimatoprost.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- Apply pressure to the inner corner of the eye (near the nose) for approximately 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
