How Deferoxamine works: Deferoxamine traps and removes excess iron, which is then primarily excreted in the stools. This process reduces the risk of organ damage.

Common side effects of Deferoxamine include flushing (a sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), rash, decreased blood pressure, and abdominal pain.
