How Etoposide works Etoposide is an anti-cancer medication that functions by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme known as topoisomerase II, which is involved in the DNA replication of cancer cells. This action slows the growth of cancer cells and ultimately leads to their death.

Common side effects of Etoposide include diarrhea, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, decreased appetite, dizziness, infection, liver toxicity, skin pigmentation changes, weakness, leukemia, anaphylactic reaction, arrhythmia, myocardial infarction, high blood pressure, hypotension, and mucositis.
