Side Effects

Common side effects of sodium aminosalicylate and isoniazid include rash, fever, peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness in the feet and hands), increased liver enzymes, and jaundice.

Expert Advice

  • Sodium aminosalicylate + Isoniazid must be taken on an empty stomach at the same time every day.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
  • Stopping treatment early may cause the infection to return and become harder to treat.
  • Discontinue Sodium aminosalicylate + Isoniazid and inform your doctor immediately if you experience:
    • Rash
    • Itchy skin
    • Swelling of the face and mouth
    • Difficulty breathing
  • It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and maintain a healthy diet while taking the medication.
  • The medication may cause dizziness; therefore, do not drive or engage in activities that require mental focus until you know how it affects you.
