Uses

Levofloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also effective for infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinuses, nose, throat, female genital organs, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia).

How it Works

How Levofloxacin Works Levofloxacin is an antibiotic that functions by inhibiting the activity of a bacterial enzyme known as DNA gyrase. This action prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing themselves, ultimately leading to their death.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Levofloxacin include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), increased liver enzymes, infusion site reactions, and inflammation of the vein.
